PS — Preliminary Support: The first significant buying after a long downtrend. Volume rises but the decline continues; supply still dominant.
SC — Selling Climax: Heavy panic selling on extreme volume and a wide-range bar that exhausts supply. Marks the lower bound of a likely accumulation range.
AR — Automatic Rally: The reflexive bounce that follows the SC as short-covering meets thin supply. Its high becomes the upper bound of the trading range.
ST — Secondary Test: Price returns near the SC low (or BC high in distribution) on lower volume and narrower range, confirming the climactic bar's exhaustion.
Spring: A brief penetration below the trading range that fails — the final shakeout. Strong reversal back into the range is bullish.
Test: Re-test of the spring low on light volume, holding above the spring's low. Confirms supply has been absorbed.
SOS — Sign of Strength: A strong rally on expanding volume and wide range, signalling demand has overcome supply and markup is imminent.
LPS — Last Point of Support: A pullback after the SOS that holds above prior resistance on contracting volume. The classic low-risk entry before markup.
PSY — Preliminary Supply: First meaningful selling after a long uptrend. Volume rises but the trend continues higher.
BC — Buying Climax: Climactic buying on huge volume and wide range that exhausts demand. Marks the upper bound of likely distribution.
UT — Upthrust: Brief penetration above the range that fails — a bull trap.
UTAD — Upthrust After Distribution: A late-range upthrust on heavy volume that confirms distribution is complete.
SOW — Sign of Weakness: A decisive decline on rising volume signalling supply has overwhelmed demand.
LPSY — Last Point of Supply: A weak rally after the SOW. The final shorting opportunity before markdown.
Phases A–E: A: stopping the prior trend (PS, SC/BC, AR, ST).
